\nThe company also offers accessories, motorcycle equipment, technical assistance and maintenance, events and tours, and, so, has a wide range of content.<\/p>\n

BMW is one of the largest European manufacturers in the automotive industry, thanks to its 30 production facilities located in 14 countries and a global sales network. It is the leading premium manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles, and has combined the highest quality with innovative technologies for 100 years.<\/p>\n

Officially represented in Portugal since 2005, it often requires different multilingual services for its in-house and external communication. While internal communication is more technical and specialised, external communication is, mostly, customer-oriented, requiring greater flexibility to adapt marketing content to the Portuguese market. We are often asked to translate technical documents, training manuals, online content, model brochures, accessories and parts catalogues, and user manuals, as well as to format and create the layout of documents, subtitle videos and provide voice-overs, and even interpret German, English and Spanish into Portuguese.<\/p>\n

Challenge<\/h2>\n

Official representation of BMW Motorrad in Portugal required seamless communication with the other markets in which the manufacturer already operated.<\/p>\n

We worked closely with the BMW Motorrad department dedicated exclusively to motorcycles for the official launch of operations in Portugal, where we were responsible for the translation<\/a> of a variety of content written mostly in German and English.<\/p>\n

Our biggest challenge was to implement the proper terminology for the motorcycle segment, as many words and expressions in German and English are used interchangeably when referring to cars and motorcycles, which isn\u2019t the case in Portuguese. Naturally, the translation and revision<\/a> team had to have a thorough understanding of linguistic nuances to ensure that the appropriate language was used for the content being translated, ensuring consistency and following the communication rules specific to the BMW Motorrad brand.<\/p>\n

Solution<\/h2>\n

A team of several specialised native translators<\/a> was formed, which included a native reviser<\/a> responsible for ensuring consistency in the terminology used for the various texts.
\nMemory translations tools<\/a> were also used, which are essential for these types of projects, to reuse similar content, ensure consistency in sentences and terminology across all content, and to save time, thus meeting the customer\u2019s needs and deadlines.<\/p>\n

Result<\/h2>\n

This combination of human resources and computer-assisted translation tools ensured optimum quality and consistency in all content, including implementation of the terminology used in the motorcycle segment and compliance with the BMW Motorrad style guide for communication with the target customer.
\nThe advanced quality control solutions provided by the translation memory tools and the use of a dedicated reviser helped ensure the standardisation of all content to deliver an accurate and professional translation, in line with the quality and positioning of the BMW Motorrad brand in the Portuguese market.<\/p>\n
